Significantly better than the first, and while it explains why some of the first book was as sloppy as it was (essentially badly disguised misdirections plot points that didn’t ring true, because they WERENT)
I don’t know. I liked the world building, I liked the open seas and the hidden island and the magics. I liked the happy ending. But god, I hated the characters and their development. So much trope in Cas, little to no substance or nuance in Des. And just, I hated our protagonist. Was I supposed to?
