Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee
1.5
- I was drawn tot his book by the cute cover. Reading the description it felt like a story with much potential and I love reading about all types of relationships and people finding their true identity (trans representation).
- However… I almost DNF 10% into the story as I really did not like Noah: he is a total brat, self-righteous, so judgmental and expects so much from everyone around him but seems to be giving little back in return! I pushed through, hoping it would get better…it didn’t: at 28% I was getting annoyed with the love narrative, I’m a fan of the fake dating trope but this one felt very uncomfortable and Drew feels kind of off… And then at 35% Noah just becomes mean!
- I know I’m not the target audience being a white female of 36 but there’s many young adult books that I truly do like a lot; this one just doesn’t do it for me: Noah is insufferable! Though I have to say at 78% you finally get a glance of the nice guy underneath…
- Only reason I finished is because I chose it as part of the Diverse Baseline challenge and there was no time to read another book for the prompt this month. But I will scan through the other books for this prompt to read later on and get a more positive experience!
