The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan

5.0

"In peace send me the kind, the goodly, and the strong of heart. In war give me the cruel, the hardy, those who will act in want of all honour. The latter build nations; the first sustain them."

I honestly didn't think it would be possible for Tyranny of Faith to be anywhere near as good as Justice of Kings -- and I am very happy to say that it isn't, it's better. Almost every element from the first book that I enjoyed was ramped up and improved upon in book 2. The character relationships, the exploration of not just religious faith but faith in government and that you are on the right path, this book also starts to ramp up the horror undertones and really dives in to the magic and forces at play. Richard Swan has swiftly become one of my must read authors and I am livid I have yet to read his sci-fi series.
