Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst

4.0

If you've watched one of the earlier Trevor Noah stand up shows, the oft-used phrase from this book, "I'm going to Australia!" will make you laugh all the more. He uses it satirically, poking fun at white-privilege and the threat of moving to Australia post-Apartheid in South Africa. So, ya, it cracks me up every time. I wonder if he got the idea from this book, hmmmmm....

This book is a hit with my kids and with me. I usually read it is a very whiny voice and by the end of the book, I want to move to Australia to get away from Alexander and my voice. Nevertheless, it resonates with my kids because some days are just awful and when you're little and feel everything to the Nth degree, it's nice to know that you are not alone.
