The Ruin of Kings
by Jenn Lyons
One of the most complicated books I've ever read in the fantasy genre, in the best way possible! People who like thinking while reading, read this one! The ending went a bit off the rales for me but that does not detract from the overall story and style in the least. I also loved the format, I hope it continues in the following books.
Update: the format did continue but I became annoyed by a lot of characters in the second book so I skipped through them quickly and my conclusion is that I am very sad because I bet I missed a lot of fantastic plots and turn-arounds. Still, I am not going to read a book where I have to keep rolling my eyes at the characters and too many 'progressive' concepts, a lot of which were really cool, but there were too many with no real point to them in the story.
