The most striking part of reading this was being with the emotions of seeing an emotionally abused person grow out of the box the abuse put them in and figure themselves out. I knew little of Circe, so I'm not sure how much was entirely invented by Miller vs. pulled from mythology, but I had no idea this was coming. It may feel a bit trigger-y for folks but I found it a source of hope.

I was really bummed at how motherhood became such a focus of Circe's purpose. I know it's a thing but it just feels like a tired trope.

The moral of the story is I'll read any mythological inspired fiction from Miller!
