Turning Pointe: How a New Generation of Dancers Is Saving Ballet from Itself by Chloe Angyal

informative medium-paced

4.0

As a former ballet dancer, I enjoyed reading this book. I didn't agree with everything the author said and talked about but ballet is important to me. The book is well researched. The author talked with a lot of different ballet dancers from different backgrounds. It was cool to hear others stories of how they made it through the pandemic. I agree with the author in that ballet needs to change. There shouldn't be a 'perfect ballet body'. Ballet shouldn't exclude or demean dancers who aren't tall, lean white girls. It should be for anyone to do and enjoy.
