The Firm by John Grisham
5.0

It is no surprise The Firm is often regarded as one of the finest (legal) crime thrillers ever written. Crime novels aren't usually my go to genre, but this book was so smartly written, so engrossing and always advancing at what felt like a breakneck pace I was hooked from the get go. From the first chapter right through to the very last, this novel doesn't let up, it doesn't slow down and it keeps you on your toes. What seems like a very "standard" crime plot (put simply, its a case of "too good to be true" with Mitch Mcdeere joining the "dream" firm, which of course, it isnt), is so cleverly written and a brilliantly told story overall.
I'm generally a slow reader, but I powered through this book after the first couple of chapters!
I could not recommend this book enough if you are into your crime novels, particularly as this is often regarded as a "classic" in the genre.
Safe to say I'll be reading more of Grisham's novels from now on!
