Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charlie Cochet

3.0

I didn’t LOVE Catch a Tiger by the Tail and I’m afraid it may be because I’m burning out a bit on the THIRDS series. I admit I didn’t have a whole lot of interest in the Calvin and Hobbes pairing going in -but they were sweet together and it was nice to see them work things out. There was still a good amount of Dex & Sloane and Ash & Cael – so it wasn’t entirely the focus on Calvin & Hobbes that dimmed my interest.

It seems that some of the interactions between characters are becoming more unrealistic – schmaltzy and saccharine sweet. Not that that’s entirely bad – it’s still kind of fun and relaxing after a day out in the real world – but it just seems even more over the top and harder to take seriously than usual. For example the THIRDS crew helping move Sloane into Dex’s apartment and getting sidetracked because all the felid Therians want to shift and play in the boxes with the packing peanuts.

In addition to the romance, CATBTT also involved plot points around Calvin’s work stress and Ethan’s family stress. We get more info on the Hobbes’ brothers and the Seb/Hudon and Rafe/Nina pairings get air time. Despite being a bit bored with this installment I’m still committed to seeing the series through to the end, so I really didn’t need the whopping big cliff hanger to real me in to the next book.
