A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5.0

I don’t really ever write reviews but ASITE deserves one.

Let me start by saying Miss JLa is a GENIUS.
This book is the the prequel of the FBAA series and it’s amazing. We go into the story from Sera (the Consort) POV and learn that she is in many ways like Poppy. The fierceness, the curiosity, how she wants to help her people and fights for them. HER FRECKLES. I mean JLa thought of everything and I can’t stop seeing how they are so alike.
And Nyktos… wow. I’m really impressed how I bet most of us pictured him and with this book I was completely blown away. We see a man that’s gone through a lot and is given so much responsibility, (maybe) a burden on his shoulders and he’s still playful, caring and has a great heart. And yet again, I see Poppy here too.
Now Sera and Nyktos together? Hot. That’s how I describe them. From the first time they interact they have chemistry and it’s lovely to see how they go spicing things up, their attraction grows and we see how they fall in love. And out. And into it again.
This book really answers LOTS but LOOOOTS of questions. It’s amazing how it helps connects the dots and makes us understand so many things that have happened.
I personally loved it. JLa’s writing as always is *chef’s kissed*. The pacing is good, world setting and characters amazing and spice so, so good.
A true 5/5 for me.
