Dreadnought by April Daniels
3.0
Danny Tozer, a teenaged trans girl has just inherited the superpowers of the world's greater superhero, Dreadnought. And when you inherit the mantle of Dreadnought your body assumes its ideal form. For Danny that means being seen as a girl, which is the greatest gift she could have ever received, but her friends and family don't necessarily share that view.
Dreadnought is a rare and precious example of a power fantasy for trans girls by a trans girl. Danny's idealized gender transformation thrust upon her by super-powered circumstance, rather than by choice, will undoubtedly appeal to trans readers and touch on their escapist wishes.
Suddenly no one is blaming you for choosing to be trans, no one can call you delusional, no one can clock you and out you as trans, you just ARE the gender you feel yourself to be, by magic. Furthermore, when you're a member of a marginalized group that is frequently at risk of violence, I can imagine there would be great comfort in suddenly being nearly invulnerable to harm.
While this is likely a five star read for many trans teens, I think this is book that many could appreciate, regardless of their identity. I think Fans of Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners Trilogy and would particularly enjoy this super story of identity.
