Making Comics: Storytelling Secrets of Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels by Scott McCloud
Gift idea for Aidan's 11th bday in March.
ETA: we did get it for Aidan, and it just fueled the fire of his passion for creating comics.
I finally read it myself in preparation for our Comic Creators club. Brilliant. He presents the information in such an entertaining way (basically creating a comic for every page and for all the information). I especially loved his description of emotions being like colors, which you can mix to create different shades.
We received a 2nd copy as Xmas gift from a cousin and the boys refuse to part with it because they each want their own copy. Charlotte also got a copy for our local library, if any locals want to check it out.
