Book 54 Review - The Ex Talk By Rachel Lynn Solomon - Fun but Complex

Another rom com I picked up in a set of birthday gifts for myself this year. Something about rom coms always tends to boost up my spirits and make everything brighter I guess, not in the sense of fantasy, but something about broken spirits melding together with a dose of banter and comedy thrown in makes me happy.

This book started with a bang, I loved the two main characters Shay and Dominic, an Asian male lead thrown in, a definite bonus for a kdrama stan, the banter and the frenemies equation between them was so much fun to read.

Shay, loved her, could connect with her a lot, brought back a sense of nostalgia, love for family, her flawed walls due to her loss, a complex character but a true one whom I really liked.

Dominic, a gem of a character on one side, flawed with insecurities on the other side, made it hard for me to connect with him at few points, definitely became a meh at the end looking at his actions, not that he didn't have valid reasons but his sense of maturity cut me through.

It hurts to say this, but the book kinda got draggy at few bits, and the ending was not satisfactory for me, even though Shay got her ending, which I loved. A good book to read though, but some parts disappointed me.

Next Book - Finishing up on A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev, Discover your quest by Dhara Purohit and Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah - lots on my TBR lol.
