I was a little slow jumping on the Harry Potter bandwagon. As I read the first book, I got a little bogged down in how horrid Harry's life was. Once he got to Hogwarts, my enjoyment of the series improved. But as he had to go "home" each year, I would dread reading that part of the book each time. I have to say my favorite was the 4th book. At one point I was completely stunned and in tears. The 5th book was too dark and whiney to be very enjoyable ... at this point I was caught up with the series and had to wait for the final books. The lapse in between did also impact my enjoyment of the final books. I wish I had waited until the series was complete before reading them all.
