This is, hands down, the most unique retelling that I've read so far. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book since I've never heard of it before, but I'm glad I found it when searching for BATB retellings awhile back.
If you're looking for a sad retelling that captures the sharp anguish of the original story, but in a totally different way, then this is definitely it.
