The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
4.0
The pages of this book pulled me in from the start. There is a great combination of elements that blended very well, the pacing of the book is very good- I don’t feel like it drags on anywhere, though I will say it is much more fast-paced at the end, but that is to be expected as things are wrapping up. I do wish some fo the twists and turns were more spread throughout the book, I feel like that is a little back heavy. But again, I think that’s to be expected as well with wrapping up a book.
The only “issue” with the book that I had is I did not “see” enough development of Esta’s relationships in the present before she time jumped to the past. I think if there had been a little bit more development there, it would have made it more understandable, or easier to grasp, why Esta’s mission and getting back to the present was so important to her.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, especially the audiobook- it really helped me keep all the characters in order because there are quite a few of them. I am very much looking forward to the next book!
