It was hard to get into it at first because of the few dialogues. Helen and Grant mostly lock up their feelings and words in their heads at the start. But once they started opening up, it was smooth sailing from then on. It grasped my attention, and I knew then that this novel was going to be memorable.

Helen's relationship with her family is something I relate to a lot. Also coming from an Asian family, words and physical touches are not practiced and normalized within our household. Reading about it in a book makes me feel seen. So, I am very thankful to the author for adding that teeny tiny detail.

Helen and Grant are two people bound by the same trauma, albeit on different sides of a coin, but they understood each other. I love how their relationship turned out—from a physical one to something so much more.

My favorite part of the story is surely the way Grant proposed. So few words but so much genuineness.
A song for this book is "Let it Happen" by Gracie Abrams.
