Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
5.0

Wow. The amount of emotional turmoil this book caused is insane. Truly a heartbreaking, touching and jaw dropping journey. This book was a powerhouse and a proper ending to such a rich series. Although I still think I like ACOTAR a touch more, this series will always be special to me. They are different beasts and I don’t think they should even be comparable.

Although Aelin is such a strong (strong doesn’t even being to encapsulate it) female character and I truly do think I will always remember her and her resilience, I found myself more invested in Manon and her journey. Especially her and Dorian’s journey together (and their budding relationship) and all of the character growth that they underwent. Dorian and who he became at the end of the book was really worth the thousands of pages read. A character that underwent such grief, pain and loss amounted to so much through it all.
At the end, I can proudly say my favorite characters are: Dorian, Manon, Yrene and Chaol (surprisingly!)

Despite it taking me nearly a year to get through this series, I feel like I grew alongside all of these characters. I cannot wait to reread the whole series again and come away with even more.
