I heard so many good things about this book, but unfortunately it dragged for me. The long drawn out descriptions of every single detail made me hesitate to keep turning the pages and the characters were awful.

For the main characters, I hate to say it but I really do not like either of them. You have Saffron, a human on the fey side of the veil, who is treated poorly by everyone and yet somehow you still don't manage to like him. On the other hand, you have Prince Cylvan who is so insufferable I did not want to finish this book.

I started out liking Saffron because of his pure heart, shitty situation, and determination to reach his goals. However, the minute the Prince starts paying attention to him he completely forgets about his friends, the whole Wolf crisis happening in his backyard, and humans in general. He becomes completely enamored with a man WHO FED HIM DRUGGED FAIRY FRUIT and turns selfish in response.

Prince Cylvan was nearly impossible to like. He starts off rude, entitled, and just overall a shitty person. The first impression we have of him is tricking Saffron and then blaming Saffron afterward for it! Not to mention when he feeds drugged fairy fruit to Saffron and then lifts his veil knowing it could cause his death.

The writing felt sloppy, the plot was too jumbled together, and the main characters were not lovable.
