City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

5.0

Okay, so, this may be my new favorite book. I'll start with the characters.
Clary: Okay, I thought that Clary was a fairly mainstream protagonist, but it worked fairly well with the plot and the other characters. Overall, she's probably a 3.5/5
Isabelle: Izzy is the best of the shadowhunters, in my opinion. To be quite honest, throughout this book and the various fanfiction I've read, Izzy is like the shadowhunter's fandom representative; she ships, and she loves embarassing Alec. Everything we need in a character! 5/5
Simon: Simon is... kind of annoying, to be quite honest. I get his whole 'in love with the main character' plot line, but overall, I just don't like him much. 2.5/5
Alec: So, Alec... my opinion of him is kind of mixed, because he IS nice for like, the last three pages. No joke. Seriously though, when Alec added the joke at the end, all I could think about for several minutes afterward was "Alec made a JOKE?" He was kind of pessimistic, but all in all, I understood why, and don't all authors need at least one angsty character. For Cassandra Clare, I suppose that chracter's Alec. 4/5
Magnus: I have only one thing to say about Magnus... "All hail the king of queerness and glitter." Because that's Magnus in a nutshell. 4/5
Jace: He is my favorite. My absolute favorite. He is so awesome, and we all love him for the sass and his overall awesomeness. 5/5
I loved this book. The plot was genius, and I loved all of the characters slowly being brought slowly into the spotlight. The characters were great, and it all fitted together wonderfully.
