This book was a lot of fun. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with such a matter-of-fact narrator or protagonist. Mattie Ross is a no-nonsense 14-year-old looking for a man with “true grit” to avenge her father’s death, but she has more grit than anyone else in the book! The movie is one of my all-time favorites, and the book did not disappoint at all!
