Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights by Omar Barghouti

hopeful informative sad slow-paced

4.0

At first I had a hard time focusing on this text but as I got further it got more approachable and it was easier to connect the academic writing and the reality on the ground. By the end, I was highlighting every other sentence.

I feel like everyone should read this book, or at least the original BDS calls for boycott. We should all be joining this call, doing whatever we can to end the war on Palestinians and the occupation. The boycott, divestment and sanctions approach is a great nonviolent way to make a difference.

This book offers great examples of how different organisations and countries have applied the BDS principles. And it very clearly and accurately explains why BDS is the way to and succinctly dismantles the popular objections to the cause. And there’s a sh*t ton of notes and cited sources to find more info on BDS and the cruel actions of the State of Israel.
