A Touch of Brimstone by McKenzie Hunter

5.0

What happens when a normal human book nerd gets caught up in paranormal magic and makes a deal with the son of the devil? Well you are going to find out in the Magic of the Damned series. A Touch of Brimstone is the start of another amazing paranormal series by this author. It is filled with the humor and sassy strong females that McKenzie Hunter is known for while bringing a whole new world of politics and complex characters.

A Touch of Brimstone had a slow build as the author established the main character, Luna, including her best friend Ava, her cheating ex-boyfriend and the unique environment of the bookshop that she works in along with its quirky regular customers. McKenzie Hunter is wonderful at world building and that that is shown again in this book where she has developed a supernatural world hidden within current times, with the addition of an Underworld realm. I liked Dominic and his complex character and look forward to getting to know more of him in future books.

A Touch of Brimstone was an intriguing start to this new series and I look forward to reading book 2 when it is realeased. I would recommend this for readers who enjoy paranormal romance, urban fantasy, supernatural creatures, mystery, political intrigue, slow burn, humour and strong sassy female main characters.

Full disclosure I did get this as an ARC from McKenzie but I would have bought it anyway.
