Happily Haunted Afters
by Brittany Kelley
I read the novella in this series last year and thought it was cute, and figured I’d give the full length novel a try. That was a mistake. This book was painful to get through and I ended up speed reading the last 30%. The characters are badly written, one of which is randomly referred to as the wrong gender for a few pages. It’s riddled with typos. The writing goes in circles. I’m still confused as to what happened between Emma and Jack in college and how they suddenly are okay and in love after not taking for years. Jack lies to Emma for most of the book and she’s just magically okay with that when he confesses. Literally not even taking an entire page. The other characters are so horrible towards Emma, but she is pretty insufferable so I can’t totally blame them. The ghosts and haunting were an after thought and barely interact with the characters. Ugh. Probably my worst read of this year.
