Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

3.0

Bradbury wrote the first draft of this book in only 9 days. He had to be quick about it, couldn’t go back and erase a line or a word and it shows. Characters don’t have time to be fleshed out or reach their conclusion in a natural order. Everything happens so fast- it’s either quotable conversations or intense action. I understand the context the book was written in, but at the end of the day it feels like a lot of missed opportunities. If only it had been 100 pages longer and more cohesive in narrative...
But it is a good book. A phenomenal dystopian tale, and it hits very close to home- to my horror.
