This book follows three women, their relationships, and their secrets. It’s gripping enough to keep you turning the pages, but it fell short of what I expected. I was hoping for a story about friendship standing the test of time, but what I got was two girls who grew up together and still keep in touch, and a sister who didn’t feel much like a sister.
I enjoyed Fifi’s storyline and liked Mudi too, but the constant name-dropping felt like it was trying too hard to be cool. The high-brow Lagos setting was fun to read about, though the obsession with beauty got tiring. The resolution of Mudi and Gigi’s conflict felt rushed and unrealistic, and I couldn’t really connect with the characters because they weren’t developed enough.
It’s an interesting read, but not particularly deep or memorable.
