All This Time by Mikki Daughtry

4 stars.

I knew I was going to like this. I really enjoyed [b:Five Feet Apart|39939417|Five Feet Apart|Rachael Lippincott|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1529358577l/39939417._SY75_.jpg|61834577] and when I learnt that this book was written by the same authors and about someone dealing with a brain injury, I was sold right away. I even pre-ordered the book, which is something I don't do often.

And then I let it catch dust on my shelf for a few months.

But when the Buzzwordathon had a prompt to read a book with "Time" in the title, I knew I had to pick it up. And I'm so glad I finally did it.

Kyle was such a nice, flawed main character. For once, I actually felt like I was reading about a teenage boy and about how he was learning to live with the accident and the loss of his (ex) girlfriend Kimberly. He did swear quite a bit, which was something I wasn't exactly used to considering this is young adult, not new adult.

Actually, I think this book is kind of on the edge between, but mostly leaning towards YA. While it discussed some NA things (like, college and becoming an adult, etc), the romance part of this was for sure not steamy enough to be considered NA.

Anyway, back to the characters... Marley. I didn't care too much about her, but I didn't hate her. She's shy, and a storyteller, and an introvert who needs to learn to open up to others after dealing with her own loss. But she made Kyle happy, so I can't complain.

Then something happens in the book and I have to admit, I didn't see the twist coming at all. And I love the twist. It completely caught me off guard and I was thrown into the more "sick-lit" part of the book, really focussing on the trauma Kyle had to deal with. I definitely struggled to put the book down afterwards.

I really hope Mikki and Rachael will write more stories together, because at this point, I'm ready for more and I will for sure pre-order it again. Their writing style is so nice and easy to understand, yet quite accurate and I noticed they really know how to capture that hospital feel. Great job!
