Postcards from the Edge by Carrie Fisher

4.0

I liked the format of this and I liked Suzanne almost immediately, but I felt that the style of writing kept the reader deliberately at a distance from Suzanne's (and Alex's) emotions. Suzanne used humour and candour to deflect from any sincere feelings. This isn't necessarily a criticism, because I think that was deliberate and it was definitely interesting, but it did stop me from giving it 5 stars on a purely enjoyment level of things. I would have liked to see a crack--but maybe that in itself was the point, that even when you might see cracks in other people, this is Hollywood and things only go so far.
