The House of My Mother by Shari Franke
emotional

Like many others, I watched Devil In The Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, and I had thoughts. When I heard that Kevin and Ruby Franke's eldest daughter Shari had written a book about her life, I knew I needed to read it to hear about her point of view, and things that may have been left out in the documentary.
First of all, Shari is an incredible woman. She speaks so eloquently and, as I listened to the audiobook, you had moments where you could feel her emotions. Not only did she chronicle the Franke's lives being members of the LDS community from when they started their YouTube channel, religion and "life coach" Jodi Hildebrandt's insertion into their family and how it changed them forever, but Shari was also treated quite badly by other adults in her life, namely Derek, an older married man who essentially groomed her.
When I watched the documentary, I had my own thoughts about certain people in the family (okay, I'll say it, Kevin Franke) but hearing Shari's recollection of how he was brainwashed by both Jodi and Ruby, I did start to change my opinion.
My heart completely went out to Shari as she did so much to try and rescue her siblings before what happened, happened. She is now doing a lot with regard to speaking out about family vlogging and putting your children out there when they don't have a say. This is definitely worth reading or listening to.
