Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
2.0
This sadly is one of those books with a really interesting idea but it was executed very poorly. Her writing didn’t do this idea justice. It could have been really good. This isn’t a bad book but reading it while also reading Wilde, dickinson and many other classic authors makes the difference in the writing really noticeable. I didn’t expect this book to be at a classic level, but the writing was just really disappointing.
I liked the plot for this book, a young girl Locks her brother in their apartment in Paris before the nazi’s take her and her family away and your wondering if she is able to escape and safe her little brother.
Unfortunately there is another storyline involved about a very uninteresting woman. It’s about Julia, she is a wife and a mother in her late forties. She came of as dramatic and immature. I was annoyed the whole time I had to read about her.
It ruins the book totally. The author wrote way to little about Sarah and way to much about Julia. The story about Sarah is very very sad and it’s such a waste that so much of the book is about Julia.
I don’t hate this book, but it was very dissapointing.
