Totally loved this book - I do find Kristin Hannah's books a bit hit and miss at times, but boy when she delivers she really delivers.

Not a period of history I knew anything about but the novel comes across as well-researched and essentially accurate, without reading like a history text book or feeling forced.

Elsa is a likeable, strong character who in the 1930s faces the same struggles with her husband, teenage daughter and role in the world that many of us still face now.

Couldn't put this down, and though I'm not an emotional reader this almost brought me to tears...
