I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall
4.0

A teenage girl is recovering from the car accident that wrecked her leg and killed her mom, but is doing it in the Canadian wilderness with her off-the-grid dad. She even references Hatchet while flying there. She learns new off-the-grid skills, hunting, fishing, shelter, etc, all of which are suddenly necessary when a three "business associates" come by and kill her dad. Girl and dog survive and swear revenge, assuming they live long enough.

Dramatic survivalist thriller, which is in my perpetual wheelhouse. Her plot armor includes being an out-of-practice archery champion and an amateur pilot working on her license, which is all very convenient. But the story and setting are compelling, the writing is good, and you root for the main character, so it's all to the good. Would recommend, and when I have a budget again, I'll probably add it to the middle school collection.
