The Faculty Lounge: A Novel by Jennifer Mathieu

4.0

Cozy and sweet isn’t the way I usually describe books I enjoyed, but The Faculty Lounge caught me by surprise. It was charming and heartwarming, accurate and relatable. While I didn’t spend a lot of time teaching in the classroom, I spent enough time there to see that Mathieu hits the nail on the head.

Within the wide scope of a school setting, Mathieu zooms in and explores the relationships within the building. We meet the substitute teacher that felt teaching was his calling. We meet the underappreciated janitor that keeps the school sparkling. We meet the principals that manage the ins and outs of the business side of a school. In the end, we meet a whole staff with a lot of heart.

Educators will love this own, but even if you’re not in education, this book reminds us what a special group of people teachers are. ✂️✏️📎🍎
