Ordinary Monsters
by J.M. Miro
I’m torn on how to rate this. I really enjoyed the world and how dark and different the narrative was. I was completely drawn in at first but it became harder and harder to connect with and continue reading. The writing itself felt messy, almost like someone padding out a high writing assignment to hit a word count. There’s also a fair amount of cliché phrasing (“cold, so cold” or similar was included a painful amount of times). That said, the world has stuck with me, and I suspect I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.
