I believe that John Steinbeck knew exactly what emotions he wanted to evoke with his stories.
I´ve been slowly coming out of a long reading slump and stories like this are the ones who help me to fall in love with reading again. i understand why people won´t like the way Steinbeck writes his stories but I think it´s incredible how easy it is to understand everything that is going on. The story itself is incredible, I get why people won´t like this type of stories and I totally respect it!
I can say I might be biased by the fact that as a mexican reader who has family all over california I love seeing the working class being portrayed with the respect and dignity they deserve. It´s my first Steinbeck read and I can´t wait to read more.
