Luka by Jane Harvey-Berrick

4.0

“Love hurts. Love flays you raw and leaves your skin hanging from your body in bloody strips. It brands and burns you. Ultimately, love is the worst thing that can happen to a human being.”

I just finished this book this morning and I’m sitting here wondering to myself, “How have I not read any books by this author before?” I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to discover this author, but now that I have, I could not be more excited.

Luka. Luka. Luka. What can I possibly say about this book? This is one of those books that you know within minutes of starting it, that it’s going to be epic. You can tell that it is about to take you on a ride; that your emotions are going to be all over the place. I know mine certainly were. If you know me, then you know that I purposely try to avoid books with love triangles. They’ve never been my thing. However, when I heard about Luka, there was just something screaming at me to pick up this book and take a chance. And I have to tell you, I am so glad that I did.

Luka’s story is not your typical love story. It’s not even your typical love triangle. Why, you might ask. Well, I’ll tell you why. It’s not your typical love triangle because the two people that Luka is in love with are brother and sister. Now, I also don’t read a lot of M/M books, but I have read a few and I can tell you that Luka’s story is just beautiful. It’s not just a story about sex, there are problems and real feelings involved. The characters are real. They are flawed. They are not perfect. They are so easy to relate to.

Luka’s story is one that you can’t help but be intrigued by. It sucks you in and demands that you read it. You will find yourself unable to look away and dying to know what will happen next.

To sum it up, Luka is an incredible read. It is well written and so captivating. It has just the right amount of angst and drama and romance. This story will take you one emotional, unforgettable journey.
