The Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston

5.0

Third in the Pride paranormal romance series usually based in New York City. In this particular installment, the action centers in Sissy Mae and Bobby Ray's hometown in Tennessee.

The Story
Mitch is set to testify in a mob-type murder and the accused is not about to let that happen. When Mitch is shot three times in what the Pride thought was a safe place, Sissy Mae lights out of New York City with the wounded lion shapeshifter and takes him back home to Tennessee. As a wolf shifter stronghold, everyone believes it's the safest place for Mitch to heal.

Unfortunately, the NYC wolves are the only ones who see Mitch as a friend first and a lion shifter second. With Sissy Mae's parents off on a cruise after Bobby Ray and Jessie Ann's wedding, Smithtown and her other brothers are intent on getting rid of both of 'em.

My Take
This was the most fun of the series yet! Laurenston creates such unique characters and the interaction between Sissy Mae and Mitch is too funny. Sissy Mae is such a hard ass with no respect for men except for what she can get from them in bed…and she ain't usually impressed… Then Mitch comes along with his lion attitude—absolutely lovely, Ms. Laurenston! I do adore how Laurenston depicts Mitchell's spoiled-ass, take-care-of-absolutely-everything-for-me lion 'tude while making me crack up. A guy like him would never work for me in real life…but I sure do enjoy his sense of humor, his sex-obsessed compulsions, and his sense of entitlement in Mane Attraction.

Naturally, I adore Sissy Mae as well. Hey, she adores fast cars. And she can drive 'em as well as rebuild 'em. Then there's her alpha-bitch response to trouble. Oh yeah, she's a friend I want next to me in a dark alley.

The Cover
The title is absolutely perfect as Mitch "knows" he is the Mane Attraction. As for the cover…yeah, I can see the cover model as Mitch with that devilish look of "who can I 'get' next???"

Mitch and Sissy Mae are so made for each other with their compulsive, practical joker-need to knock every societal expectation on its head. I look forward to future stories with these two!
