A part of me right now is in shock and the other part is wondering how I finished this book so quickly. Probably because I was too engrossed to put it down. When I first read the first book, I thought it was another Beauty and the Beast retelling. But the trilogy has manifested into something so much more. This was such an amazing read. Though, not as good as the first book. I feel like this was more of a transition book to the third where a lot more will be at risk. I really did wish that I got to see more of Harper's and Rhen's POV since there was a lot going over in Emberfall, too. I also really wanted to know what Rhen was thinking because the whole time while I was reading this book, I disliked him.
But boyyyyyyy did the epilogue kill me. I'm just going to leave it there and not spoil anything else. I heard that the third book is coming in 2021 which is a very long time away. I need to know what happens next!
Also, I am so glad that there were no love triangle in this book. The love triangle between Rhen, Harper, and Grey in the first book just made my heart hurt. I love Rhen but I also love Grey and I want the best for Harper. I just want 2020 to be over with so I can read the third book.
