Rebel Spring
by Morgan Rhodes
This series is really beginning to remind me of the Demon King etc. whatsit series by Cinda Williams Chima. It's got scandal and romances and secrets...then also magic and plots for kingdoms to fall and all that sort of royal backstabbing and such. It's pretty complex and I was really glad that I reread the first book before picking up this sequel. I really enjoyed both books but I think that this one was better. I'm not 100% sure which one I actually enjoyed more but there a couple of plot flaws in the first book that threw me off a little so I thought this one was a bit better. Also wonderful job on the cover! I love it and it has just the right amount of flair and mystery to catch the books feel perfectly.
Rereading** This book and this series are masterfully written and I'm so glad that I picked up the first book, Falling Kingdoms, whenever ago. This is a series that's full of excitement and overthrowing and rebellion and plans and secrets and arranged marriages and attacks and magical elements. All these things set it apart from any other series I've read. It's such an original idea, the plot moves quickly and really captures your attention. The world that Morgan Rhodes has created is wonderful and the characters are ones that you grow to love or hate. I really love this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy that's full of romance, magic, and adventures.
Third or fourth reread and I still enjoyed this story! It had been a while since the last time that I had read this book and there were things that I had forgotten! In a way it was almost like reading it for the first time, I just knew the characters a little better and had an idea of where the plot was going. The book starts off with the aftermath of the battle for Auranos at the end of the first book and from there the action and tension increases until it reaches a climax at the end of the book! It made me excited to start the next book and it's great to reread the series now because all the books are out and there is not need to wait months for the next book!
