Raven Steele is a reaper. For every life she takes, she must save another. If she does not she risks losing herself to oblivion.
On her way home Raven crosses paths with a young Barron and her life changes suddenly. Now with a new mission, being pursued by royal guards, Raven must flee, hoping that she can save herself in the process.
This was a very well written novella. Raven was an interesting character with a complicated past and uncertain future. Her wishes were constantly at war with her duties and it was heartbreaking to see them fall apart. Her interactions and fighting with the guards were really well done. I also really like the mix of fantasy and steampunk elements. A very enjoyable read.
