lol I don’t have a star rating yet but basically this is a collection of short stories I was given by a friend years back that I finally got to, it’s about a lot of mainly women and life in argentina? it’s got a mix of supernatural elements and very real, uncensored portrayals of social issues in argentinian society that was rly interesting to read abt coming from an argentinian writer who grew up post-war but still felt the effects of it.
I wish some of the stories were longer or had less abrupt endings, but for some of them I feel like that was the point in a way. it just made things feel a little too passed over at times when I still had so many questions lol, like some stuff could’ve been expanded on a lot more, but when a story hits, it REALLY hits (the stories at the very beginning and towards the very end especially work really well and the titular story kinda mixes in with the others in a cool way)
overall, vv interesting read, I’m a sucker for short stories that lean into that grim and unnerving/uncanny horror but aren’t afraid to ground themselves in real world evils
yea lol
