Men Have Called Her Crazy by Anna Marie Tendler

Honestly, this is my favorite celebrity memoir that I’ve read. I appreciated the prose and introspection and I loved how she wrote about how she exacerbated bad experiences. It was an honest tale of post break up self reflection and discovery and a modern woman’s relationship with mental illness. Is it the best book ever written? No, but it’s is honest and she made me cry with how she wrote about experiencing grief. I think the bad reviews and hatred of her story stem from the very idea she’s critiquing in her title…that women are called crazy for experiencing deep emotion, mental illness, trauma, etc. I am left with much to think about.
