An insanely wild, dark and mysterious tale. House of Roots and Ruin, while connected to House of Salt and Sorrow, was removed enough from the original tale that it could stand on its own. I loved this story so much more than the first book, Verity was one of the only characters I truly enjoyed so I was excited to dive into her journey. There was just so much more in this book, more world building, more character development, more plot intrigue, more darkness, more thrill, it was absolutely captivating. And that ending, oh my gosh, completely diabolical.
