Spoiler
He is asleep... though his mettle was sorely tried,He lived, and when he lost his angel, died.
It happened calmly, on its own,
The way night comes when day is done.
This book was horrible and wonderful, it was sad and on rare occasions happy. I had a LOVE/HATE relationship with this book and felt many moments of torture. I will never again force myself to read a book that is so daunting and overly-descriptive and at times completely off-topic.
....and yet....
I am so glad I read it. I cried at the ending, which is hidden by the spoiler mark. I cried for the characters as well as myself, for accomplishing this task. The classic.
Only read this if you want to be moved. You must also be dedicated and loyal to the story it tells. (Even Waterloo).
I would give this book 5 stars, but as I said; we have a LOVE/HATE relationship.
