Rejected Princess by M.J. Penn, M.J. Penn

3.0

I received this book as an ARC.
My 3-star rating means I liked the book. It was good and solid with minor issues. I am glad I read it.

Fantasy with Romance

*Fated Mates (2 possible options)
*Single POV
*Vampires, Werewolves, Witches
*Flashbacks
*FMC is a princess

Worldbuilding: There is not a lot of worldbuilding. However, this does take place in the US and London in our time so there is not the need to describe the world in the way a fantasy book taking place in a new world would need. It is descriptive of areas characters visit.

Characters:
Breanna- The princess of the werewolf kingdom
Hayden- The fated mate who is also Breanna's beloved bodyguard. Your happy wanting to be with Anna MMC.
Torin- The fated mate who is the half-vampire half-werewolf hybrid who seems to want to reject Breanna.
Tammy- Breanna's best friend.

Summary:
The first two sentences from the books description are truly the best summary of the book.

"Find your soulmate and inherit the throne," my dad says. Instead, I find a magic book that drags me back to the supernatural life I’ve escaped and desperately tried to avoid.

Breanna is the human daughter of the werewolf king and queen who is living in London in the 'human' world avoiding the supernatural world. Despite avoiding it for 7 years she is thrown back into being involved with the supernatural when she finally enters her dream realm where she discovers who her fated mate... oops mates... are. Her walk through her dream realm leaves her full of questions due to what happens and why she has two mates when she should only have one. Especially when one of the mates is a vampire-werewolf Alph who her father does not want her around. Along with her dream world experience, she finds a magical book she is drawn to. This magical book gives her a sense of peace and she hopes it will give her answers in regards to her human heritage, but she can't open it. While trying to figure out how to open is she soon discovers that there are others interested in this book and she has to fight to keep it in her possession. When it is taken from her she follows who took it from her to get it back.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths-
*Intriguing plot twists.
*FMC character growth
*Well written
*Cliffhanger is well written. It left me wanting to read the next book and my heart is still okay.

Weaknesses-
*The FMC repeats herself a good bit; especially the point that she is human and not a supernatural.
*Felt as if the FMC would have come across a bit more intelligent due to her degree and career.
*Minor formatting issues (kindle version). One or two grammar/missing word errors.

Conclusion:
I would recommend this book. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one. The beginning is a bit slow but once you get a few chapters in the story becomes more intriguing. The plot twists were often and engaging. I enjoyed the navigating between the two fated mates. Not knowing which one she should be with. I personally lean more toward the morally gray characters so I am torn between who I want her to be with. Definitely need book two to get more information on Torin. I also thoroughly enjoyed the best friend Tammy.

Age: 18+ IMO (conservative opinion)
There are no spicy scenes. However, with the fated mates aspect, there is sexual tension and characters feeling sexually drawn to one another. There are descriptive sections on how the FMC's body reacts to the presence of the MMCs.
