It's in His Kiss by Julia Quinn

3.0

First rated it 4 stars but after some time to think about it, it's a - 3

The moments between Hyacinth and her mother Violet were heartfelt, she's the only child who never met their father Edmund and was brought up by her mum and siblings. I really liked Hyacinth, she's a funny and refreshing character, and I'll probably will always be her fan - if I'd like her in real life, idk. She'd probably find me boring as hell.
Gareth ... I didn't like as much. He had his heartfelt moments, mostly with Hycinth, too. But the character didn't really grew on me. (Plus he has a mullet, case closed. How good can he be? joke)
He and Hyacinth had quite a dynamic, and I can understand his motives a little bit but still they're stupid as hell. Why force someone into marriage if you love them either way and why be mad about them, when it was you who did something wrong?

Before I started reading I was very excited for Hyacinth's story - a man needs to find diamonds and the only one who can help him is a headstrong girl? Hello? Yes. But the search for the diamonds wasn't what I had expected. Sometimes it was more, sometimes less, sometimes exciting and sometimes yeah ... dragged for a bit. Also without the second epilogue one will never know what happened to them. Isn't it dissapointing? Ok, the key to the treasure is the treasure or to quote the best poet H.P. Baxxter: "The chase is better than the catch." It doesn't matter who finds the diamonds, because the friends we made a long are the true diamonds. :)
And yet it is a bit dissapointing to read a story, which hypes up a treasure chase, only to not find the treasure.

One thing that also bothered me a bit. Weirdly I never really noticed it - or rather it didn't annoy me as much - before but why do all female protagonists lose bits of their characters when they're kissed or having sex? Their first times - doesn't matter which action - read like their personality left their bodies for the moment. I don't get it. (Also don't understand how you can feel nipples under all these layers + corset or stays.)

However, in the end I did enjoy it but sadly not as much as I thought I would. There were phases where I liked the story a lot and then some where, well ... I did not so much.
