The Atlas Complex by Olivie Blake
2.5

I was completely unconvinced by everybody's rationale for doing this nutty experiment. Like, sure, you're all depressed and angry, but are you really going to risk destroying this universe because of it? What's the point?
We also just know that something's going to go wrong with it, it won't work, so the whole setup feels kinda anticlimactic before it's even begun.

I'm also unconvinced by everybody's romantic revelations. 1 or 2 moments of 'oh I've been lying to myself' - fine. But this for every character? Too much.
Libby and Nico was just ew. Frustrated by the assumption that love has to mean something sexual. Same with Reina and Parisa, though they are left in a more ambiguous place.

Speaking of ambiguous - Gideon's ending? Hated it. Let Nico be alive or dead, not some unknown thing inbetween.

I'll give it this. It made me care. I wouldn't feel this frustrated and cheated if I hadn't bought in to these characters.
But I feel like no one really got anywhere. Everyone's either dead or just as messed up as they were before, maybe with a little more blood on their hands. There's no resolution. What was this whole trilogy for, then? I want a more satisfying conclusion than what I got here.
