The way I described Frankenstein to all of my friends is that an incel becomes the way he is because of his deadbeat dad. This was literally the first book I’ve ever read for high school that I’ve actually enjoyed!! I thought the themes were a bit too obvious at times
(the Creature states repeatedly that he is the way he is because of humanity and that he’s inherently good, which really makes him sound like an incel),
and the Creature’s self-awareness and intelligence makes it a bit hard to sympathize with him later in the book since he knows what he’s doing is wrong, but I suppose that it’s fine that he’s committing murder since it’s supposed to be a horror novel. I found the last chapter a bit of a sludge to get through, but up until that point, I really liked this book!!
