This book was phenomenal! It was such a fast paced story, with great characters, and a lot of heart. I think it made it to my top 10 books of all time and it's a middle grade! I am so surprised that I hadn't heard about this book until Regan from Peruse Project on Youtube talked about it, and I can't believe how much I would have missed out on without this book in my life.
This book had all the magic and whimsy that I was looking for in Harry Potter but couldn't find as an adult re-reading the books. It features a magical school, a rag-tag group of friends that you will fall in love with, and a 12 year old girl dealing with emotions and obstacles in life that you don't find often in a middle-grade fantasy.
I'm utterly impressed. Go buy this and read it right now.
