After being blown away by The Stonecutter, I was expecting so much more from this. Instead of complex characters and layered plot lines, I got a gratuitous monologue full of predictable cliches and self-indulgent caricatures. Did I become a better reader in the last several years? Was this just a miss for Lackberg? I feel so betrayed.
